Thanks Ed. Yes I have searched through many images many times trying to find that "gem" that was rumored to have happened. It really can be challenging... and sometimes it is even rewarding....
I have 2 cams that take between 3500 and 4000 images a day... per cam.
As far as image stacking and dark frame substitution, I am currently doing this. There is a fine line between a clean substitution and doing too much which causes the image to get soft and blur. There is an adjustment for this in Sebectec. These cams do seem to have a lot of hot pixels that show up at night. I even found a brand new one in the box and ironically it had more hot pixels than some of the used ones I have bought. So, sometimes when the hot pixels start to bother me I have to stop.... Take a deep breath and put things in reality. For a cam that runs 24/7, has outstanding daytime images for a webcam, very nice night exposure capabilities and very decent (but not perfect) night images.... all for a cam that costs around $80..... Sheesh, what am I complaining about. I'll put up with the specs....
I shared this one before, but it is my favorite. When this image was taken it was pitch dark. I thought I saw a flash, but didn't think much about it. Then I decided to go back through some images..... You can only imagine how my jaw dropped. Since then, if there is even a hint of something happening I take the time to look. I have found some gold. So, as I look at this pic.... it once again assures me there are WAY more positives than negatives about these cams....
