Thank you for a great forum.
« on: July 09, 2010, 11:56:47 PM »
I have been a member for almost two years.  This was the only forum that I was a member of until a couple of months ago when I joined another group because of my interests in a totally separate field.

What an eye opener!

The “new” forum is full of people that babble on, use profanity, and constantly insult other members.  I put up with it because of a few tidbits of useful information that surface from time to time.

WXForum has had a few, very few,  similar problems in the past, but the Administrators, and Moderators have done an excellent job of dealing with them in a prompt , proficient, and professional manner.  I thank you for the work you do, and I am proud to be a part of a great forum.

Agreed!  =D> And thank you Ken for all of your programming support and knowledge. Without your generous contributions, my website would still be stuck at square one. Thank you again for all that you do!

And thanks to all the fine forum members that also donate their time to assist others in our hobby! I couldn't do it without your help!

I agree with everyone.  Since I ask more questions than give answers- It is good opportunity to say thanks.

Is anything planned for the upcoming 3000th member?

I like the other forums.  :^o

Helpful people always posting things like RTM or RTFM.... offering helpful advice like "that's how the software was written so deal with it" or "if I had of known this feature would cause so many comments I would not have included it"

There are some other good ones out there, but this is the best I have seen.  And the bad ones make that so much clearer.   =D>

When I first had my weather station, I joined a number of weather related forums to learn as much as I could about this fantastic hobby we all share, but this is the only one that I visit daily and feel a bit of a turncoat if I don't.  :-(

Whatever problems I have encountered with my stations over the past 2 plus years has always been resolved by someone one on this forum, for that I offer my thanks and also a big thanks to the admin team who work so tirelessly to make the forum what it is today, in my opinion, the best on the web and may it run forever.  =D>

Is not much to add, I can only agree with what others have written.  =D>

Many thanks to all who spend time and energy in this forum.
One thing is certain and that is if I had not found this forum so would I not have had the knowledge I have today in terms of weather and how to make a weather website.

No two ways about it, without this forum, the people who run it and the people who freely give their help, I'd have given up this great adventure long ago.

I agree with everything said. I have had so much help on a wealth of weather issues.

Many thanks to Ken for his help.

One day I hope to give advice myself to someone who has had a similar issue to me.

This is such a great forum and friendly place, the "owners" of this forum should consider putting a "donate" button on the home page and have it connected to Pay Pal.  People should be able to toss in a dollar every once in a while.  I'm sure it costs something to host/operate this forum.  I know I'd give occasionally.   UU

The primary $ to host and pay for the domain is by Chris at Capeweather.com .. he has been generously doing this since we set up the forum in July, 2006.

If you feel moved to make a donation to defray Chris' expense of hosting this forum, please visit his website .. he has a PayPal donation button here.

The other admins and mods are here because we like it and no expenses (other than time) are involved with us :)

Not much can be said that hasn't already been mentioned but I can say I have gotten answers to every question I have asked here and each answer was
a legitimate professional answer! Without the help and support I have received here my site would still be basically nothing more that a "stock" VWS template site.. not to say that's a bad thing but there are so many other avenues to explore!

I try to stay active and check out the happenings at least weekly but occasionally things get over-busy and I don't get that completed as I would like :-(

So to recap..Thanks for The Best Weather related Forum On The Net!

Let us cut to the chase:
1) How much does this forum cost per year?
2) Who pays it now?
3) If I want to contribute towards the cost how do I do it?

Since the forum runs as a sub-site on Chris' capeweather.com there's no additional hosting fees, just the yearly domain fee for wxforum.net .. I think Chris' package is a 10$/mo hosting and 15$/yr domain fee, so not very onerous :)
