Weatherflow Tempest KickStarter

Heads up. Tomorrow Tuesday November 5th, WeatherFlow will be announcing the new Tempest Personal Weather System on KickStarter. The new device hardware will feature a handful of  improvements, but for all practical purposes it will do the same thing as your SKY & AIR.  The system will also include new AI-powered forecasts which leverages data from your station to dramatically improve accuracy at your exact location. The new forecasts will be rolled out to all WeatherFlow owners in H1'2020 via an app release.

Want to upgrade to Tempest?   We'll be offering all current WeatherFlow station owners an option to purchase the Tempest device 'ala-carte' (use your existing HUB) at a price lower than the complete price offered on our KickStarter campaign (all complete packages include a HUB). We'll let you know details such as cost and how to order once we have the new Tempest devices in stock in February/March 2020.

Looks like you also have to buy a $30 Yeti mug and a $60 hoodie.

yes but i guess something better than nothing but i think the limitation or restriction with the added fee will give them better control ,feedback and analysis as opposed to the previous method i always felt there were a few freebie hunters and with no background or knowledgeable on the finer points , it used to create a lot of noise and some the critical issues often got drowned out perhaps why the rain issue with previous never truely got resolved . i think any beta product or early development should be done under a controlled idea last time round a 1000 plus units in circulation just created a nigh on impossible mass of data and correlating that must have been a complete nightmare let alone logistics costs.. anyway hoping to see a positive outcome especially in terms actual measured rainfall not fudged .

Just to send out 1000 units and expect meaningful feedback is ridiculous without having an accurate side by side station comparison.
This is looking more like what I suspected it was all along.
I'll just put it this way you get what you pay for almost always.  As a serious weather enthusiast, I'm only interested in a product if its reliable won't fail when most needed (adverse conditions) and meets at least the Davis Instruments accuracy standard for affordable stations.

problem being davis is pretty much the benchmark amongst this forum not so much over on the weatherflow forum not say there are not owners of davis hardware over there but majority are just happy to see there data on wunderflop and are happy to see the rainfall corrected following day. looking at the design closely is revealing to the trained eye so all i would focus on is the rainfall until thats resolved or proven to be reliable ill sit on the edge for the foreseeable future.

limiting the field test units in circulation is a positive move heres hoping jgentry  gets an opportunity to scrutinize... then we will have a trusted view ...

think you will find pressure from the previous backer campaign was the cause of a thousand plus units circulation at the time i just thought hell its not ready for release but there you go it happened and perhaps a high percentage were just happy to get there product they signed up for..

While I doubt there is much to the AI forecasting thing, the concept intrigues me.  I have a specific application in mind that might be worth a couple hundred bucks.
