Thats a bunch of information for your main page. Way to much if you ask me. If this is a weather web site. Then the main page needs to be just that, WEATHER. Keep it to a minimum. My site in my opinion is even pushing it a bit. Also, I don't like a web page where I have to scroll left or right to see it. My screen resolution is 1024x768. That more than adiqueate for the average visitor, in my opinion. I don't mean to sound critical here. Your site is very informative. Just giving you my honest opinion.
-
ok ill see what i can change. but what are you talking about the resilusion??? i dont have to move my mouse at all it is even for me!!
but thanks for giving me your honiststy!!
Tyler,
-
You should probably change a bit on your page, for some images is above the other pictures.
look at the picture below, B/W i have a 19 inch widescreen monitor with resulution 1400x900 so thats not the problem

And please try to post in the right Topic
-
wow i do not know why it is over lapping the inage. it does not do that to mine...
-
For myself
the weather should be on the first page and all the other info on other tabs if the person wants to learn more but thats just me and i dont have a weather page yet. Also my screen is showing overlap with pics to.
Oh Yeah and the really big point local or locale is mispelled in the first sentence #-o
You'll get it figured out
-
thaniks for the big help!! i am keeping all the info on the same page. thats just how i want it to be. alot of people are telling me that alot of overlapping is going on. thats not happening to me.
Thansk, again
Tyler,

Use a spell checker. It might sound trivial but misspelled* words can hurt an otherwise great site. Keep at it and best of luck.
I think I spelled that correctly. ;)
-
The banners (which look at first glance like advertisements) on the lower right side of the page are wider than the right sidebar. The WeatherUSA banner is being resized, giving it a stretched appearance. There are a few spelling errors too, but not as many as before.
The flashing red "OPEN 24 HOURS" is annoying as hell, by the way. Aren't all web sites open 24 hours?
-
I see copyright infringement, maybe, kinda, sorta. Unless you took those photos.
-
ok i thank all of the people that have made my weather website more better!!
Thanks so much!!
all of you really did help!!
:)
Tyler,
-
ya you might what to get a source page for all those pics.. and all the other stuff.... also i agree about having weather on the first page then having all the other stuff else where. it looks really cluttered right now. (not to be rude or anything just trying to help)
Josh

no it is not cludderd. i cleaned it out a fwe house ago. so what are you talking about???
Thanks,
Tyler
-
I just spent 3 or 4 minutes on your site and never found the weather.
-
ohhhhhhhhh, your not looking hard anugh. there is all kinds of weather stuff on there.
if you mean the like 7day forecast and other stuff, i can put it on there. you have to tell me thats all.
-
I have been a couple of times and found the same weather = NONE
I looked for weather station info etc = NONE
Where do you hide the weather info
Ron
-
I want to see the present temperature, barometric pressure, and amount of precipitation today. How hard should I be forced to work to get this basic information from a weather web page?
-
colm down!!!!
i am going to put some more stuff on...
can you guys be patent???
-
Liweather13,
I would encourage you to take time and look trhough all the websites that our members have here. You will pick up lots of great ideas on designs and layouts. Don't try to just "push" something out there very quickly. Take your time and come up with a design that suits the needs of your viewing area. That way, you can build on an already great basic foundation. I know it's hard because you want to post something fast. I know, i've been there...
Take care and the best to you,
Jim :)
-
well, at least someone is hopeful for me!!
but... some of the things you are suggestin i cant do bc i have a free website. i am not paying for it.
ill try my best thow...

I don't know what language you normally speak, but it doesn't seem to be English.
-
Just because you web site is free as you put it. Does keep you form doing alot of things with it. Most free sites will let you just about any thing but use php scripts. But seriously. If you are going to have a weather web site. Weather need to be the first thing people see when they come to your site. But the other stuff needs to be on a page(s) by it's self.

I couldn't find any weather information either. The site looks very nice but like others I was hoping to see your local conditions being the primary page. All I could find was a WU page through one of the links at the top. I think what everyone is looking for is the graphs, gauges and other icons generated by VWS rather than just a simple graphic from WU. I am sure your free host will allow you to ftp the .jpgs that are created by VWS. My webpage skills are not the greatest but I created a site (due to be overhauled soon) that displays the weather which is what my local viewers want to see. My page is just a framework that displays each vws jpg's that are ftp'ed up to the same folder every 10 min. I have several viewers who like to screen shot the graphs for daily reports and such. There is a local website in town that has weather on it from Weather Bug. Doesn't really show alot of info and is sometimes off a bit. You might want to approach the website with the less to more ideal. Present concise weather info on the main page with more and more complex info available through links. My main page is not totally concise but satisfied several requests of viewers. Also minimize scrolling down. That is why I didn't use the VWS templates to start with....to much info was being presented. It is great for the beginner to get started on but to me it showed way too much on one page. You are getting there just keep up the good work. Check out other weather sites that have been set up by members here. Take note of how others do things and come up with what works for you.

Take time, a lot of time, to look at the competition. A good place to start the "Featured Weather Website" section in the "Administration" area of this forum.
Make lists of what you like about each site, and build a plan for your site. Once you have a plan, start building it slowly, in small stages. You will find that you will be making small changes to your plan, on a regular basis.
To fail to plan is to plan to fail.

If you are using Virtual Weather Station (VWS) or Weather Display (WD). Both have a great web site builder. Use it to create your self a nice starter web page. Then use a good web page to edit it to you liking and to add other pages to you site. Creating a nice web site is really very easy.
-
I don't think Tyler has a weather station.
-
My thoughts exactly - The little info on there is from other sites, but not sure how close or if they know he is linking to their info.
-
I don't know what language you normally speak, but it doesn't seem to be English.
You must be a little older like I. ;) The language is called Cell Phone text.
I can only imagine the life of a high school English teacher in today's text message world. :-k
-
Yep, the fall of a civilized America.....
-
Seems that liveweather13's New York Webpage is gone. All I get is a 404 when I go there. Whats going on with this ?
-
Yep Gone. Might be copyright issues he did have a lot of data from other sites #-o
-
Every time you hit his page it goes to a page that says "Webs - formerly FreeWebs.com" . When you click on any tabs on the page you get a page that says something like down for maintenance and that members websites on webs.com will continue to function. Can't tell now if he shut down his site or his site got pulled or his free service went down the tubes.
-
Garth, did you get my PM?
-
kinda to bad seemed like he was really excited about his site.

Well, we might have all been had . Who knows....best just to move on.
