WU Tabular Update Frequency
« on: November 05, 2009, 10:49:11 PM »
What determines the frequency of tabular updates to WU? I am running VWS with a VP2 and I haven't found a setting for this.. WU is reporting an update about every 5 minutes, but that is more frequent than I think necessary.

Depends what version you are using.  13 and I think early 14's had their own update schedule, button right beside the "upload now" button on WU screen.

However current ver 14's, the wu upload is based on your database timer.

I agree 5 minutes it too quick for db timer, that is a lot of datapoints.  too many in my opinion. That 105120 records per year, and since vws db has a limit of 20000 records....

Thanks for the reply - I am running VWS 14p98 and my database timer was/is set to 30 minutes, but WU was sill getting updates about every 5 minutes prior to my earlier post..

Based on your message I went back and checked the database timer, to confirm its setting.. and though I didn't change it, my WU updates are now showing up every 30 minutes.. the only other thing I had changed yesterday was turning off "Rapid Fire", but I wouldn't think that would have made a difference..

Anyway, it is working properly now.. thanks for your help.

No problem.  guess it needed a nudge after turning off rapid fire.  I am on 13, have always been 20 minutes.... and have never used rapidfire.

Anyway, glad it worked out.

I am on the opposite side of the "update/database timer fence".  I have been running 1 Min updates since day 1 and never ran into issues.  I figure if I can read the data from my weather hardware might as well collect as much data as I can. :-)
