Getting historical data on my PWS from Weatherunderground
« on: May 28, 2018, 01:54:50 PM »
Hi

I'm new to this forum. I'm not a big weather enthusiast, I just wanted some way of recording my weather stats where I live and then the ability to look at them over time.

I linked my PWS to Wunderground in April 2018 when I bought it and I managed to download my historical data from the date it was set up until 2 May. I've just tried to download the data from 3 May 2018 to 28 May but Wunderground doesn't seem to be working. I can get on screen graphs for the period but the on screen table stubbornly remains at 28 May with the spinner (i've left it spinning for 40 mins to no avail).

Has something gone wrong with Wundergrounds historical data in table format?

Cumulus 1.9.4 records extensive historical weather data. That's what I use. Get it right from your PC.
Davis VP2 (cabled) Uploading to PWS, Weather Underground, Weathercloud, WOW, WeatherBug, AWEKAS and Twitter, using Cumulus.  Cabled = fewer problems, less maintenance and better reliability!

Thanks for your comment

I tried to read all the stuff on the Cumulus site but I'm not a programmer.  It seems to keep talking about vista and windows 7 whereas I am on windows 10; it says that you can't use Cumulus if you are using any other software so presumably it would fail as I've got the AERCUS software on my PC.

Really, I'm after understanding why I can't get the historical data from my own PWS that I share with Wunderground.  I've emailed them but have yet to receive a reply.

Have you tried downloading using another browser such as Firefox? With IE, I get the spinning wheel of death most of the time while accessing WU.

I'm using Chrome. It worked fine when I first wanted to download history (2 May 2018) but no longer works.  I'm loathe to download another browser.  I just thought this stuff would be easy (and that if I raised issues with wunderground they would actually reply). If I could find another network to link to I'd do that and withdraw from wunderground. In my view, the only way to make big business sit up is to withdraw your data from them!

I've just tried Edge as an alternative to Chrome and get the same outcome. The graph view will work (as with Chrome) but the table view just sticks with the current day's data rather than showing the requested custom period.

I'm actually getting no graph data of my station from WU. Anyone else having this issue?  It started when the whole WU crashed between 4 and 6 pm ET last night.

Thanks,
Chris

The graph is ok for me it's just the data table that still isn't working.

I've used the old VWS (Virtual Weather Station) to feed my data to WU for years.  I noticed that the feed wasn't working this afternoon when I couldn't get an update via Weather Mate.

I killed VWS and restarted it, then went to the Wunderground tab's Signup and Settings and clicked 'Upload Now'.  I upload 'Rapid Fire' every 3 seconds, and currently WU has accepted over 32,000 records!  That's the nice thing about VWS's WU uploads-they just keep going until they're caught up and the blanks are filled in

Who knows how long this upload is going to take or if my data will again appear once it's done...
