Down station notifications stopped?
« on: May 20, 2018, 08:12:51 PM »
My upload to WU stopped Friday afternoon after a brief, erratic power outage freaked out the UPS and the computer rebooted.  I didn't know about it until I went to update the sky conditions for PWSweather/WeatherForYou this morning and found it was at the login screen.  Used to be I'd get a notification from WU if they hadn't seen data for two hours and then another notification when it came back.  But I realized I hadn't received on this time.  I checked the junk mail folders just in case.  Anyone else notice this?  Did this go away with the API access?  It's a feature being added to PWSweather.com later this year, but it would be nice to have it somewhere until then.

AWEKAS sends notifications. I haven't seen one from WU in a long time.
Davis VP2 (cabled) Uploading to PWS, Weather Underground, Weathercloud, WOW, WeatherBug, AWEKAS and Twitter, using Cumulus.  Cabled = fewer problems, less maintenance and better reliability!

I stopped sending data to AWEKAS a few years ago because they kept flagging my data as inaccurate since I use a meteorological day (7 AM to 7 AM)  and it caused the rain figures to be off in their eyes.  Also they didn't believe during foggy days here, which can last several days, the temperature didn't change for several hours at a time and no more than two degrees over a 24-hour period (which multiple NWS and non-NWS stations in the area showed was true) so they removed my data then, too.

Same here re no WU notification over the past few months.  I have 4 other services that DO send notification if no recent data sent.

Enjoy,
Paul

I haven't received WUnderground notifications in quite some time as well. My electric flickers on and off a fair bit due to bad power right-of-way infrastructure (branches, etc. falling on lines), so my email used to get a good workout from them.

May 2017 is the last email I got from them (farther back than I thought).

I had a similar situation earlier this month (storm caused one too many quick power flickers in a row and the UPS decided it had enough) which knocked my PWS offline.  No WU notification when it went down or when I brought it back online.

I doubt they'll fix it considering the recent moves toward eliminating WU entirely.
