Meteobridge can now handle Acurite USB stations :-)
« on: May 12, 2013, 11:42:43 AM »
When you have one of the Acurite USB stations 1025/1035/1525 you can
now connect these to a tiny Meteobridge WLAN device to have your data send to a
couple of weather networks (WU, CWOP, PWS, WBUG, AWEKAS, ...) and your own
servers via http, ftp, mysql, email, twitter, etc.

This might be a feature rich alternatve to the bridge solution provided by Acurite, if
you already own an USB equipped console from Acurite.

There is also a Meteobridge variant of Saratoga templates to easily feed your
nice looking own weather homepage with weather data from your local station.

Details about Meteobridge can be found here: www.meteobridge.com

I just found out that Meteobridge's USB drivers for Acurite stations can't handle USB hubs.
This is a severe problem when using Meteobridge on TP-Link TL-MR3020 or TL-WR703 as these
platforms require an USB 2.0 hub to be placed between Meteobridge and weather station.
Reason is that devices which just speak USB 1.x (which acurite does) are not supported
by the AR71xx chipset driving the TP-Links. A USB 2.0 hub inbetween translates to
USB 2.0 standard and all is fine... except when hubs don't work... deadlock  :-x

Meteobridge based on ASUS WL-330N3G is working fine as you don't need a USB hub there.

I am working on the problem, but this is something very acurite specific (other
USB 1.x HID stations from Hideki, Oregon, etc are ok) on low level USB, which might
be hard to find and fix... so stay tuned and use the ASUS devices when you are
going with an acurite station.

Problem stated above is solved with Meteobridge version 1.6 to be released today.
Just reboot your meteobridge to get the newest version available.
