Back by popular demand, It's time to start the search for the WXForum.net Featured Weather Website for Spring, 2010, so please post your nominations (with a short description about your nominee) in this thread.
Gary's guidance Please list your nominations in this thread - it certainly can't hurt for you to describe why you think your nomination is deserving of this honor.
Don't forget that it is perfectly OK to nominate someone who has been nominated in the past but was not selected! We've had some very deserving nominees, and close runoffs!
Some criteria to consider when making nominations:
The visual attractiveness of the site
Ease of navigation
Quality and quantity of useful or interesting information
Educational value
Distinctiveness
While not a hard and fast rule, sites that only use the unmodified default web page template that comes with the software, while absolutely useful and functional, may not cross into that next level to warrant featuring in this manner. Please try to address these areas while nominating a site.
We'll run the nominations through Wednesday, September 8, then start a new thread for polling on Thursday September 9,2010. The polling will run through Thursday, September 16, 2010.
Just for reference, here were the previous honorees:

Spring or Fall?
-
We're doing a kinda retrospective .. we'll do Spring, 2010 (since we're now in Summer, 2010) and after Sept 23rd, 2010, it will be Fall, 2010 so we'll do a poll for the Summer, 2010 featured site. We run one season behind :)
So... where are the nominations? Post 'em on this thread.

Can we nominate a member who is no longer on the forum, but was here earlier in the year? If so, I would like to nominate MadALwx (http://www.knology.net/~blackjack52/index.php) He has put A LOT of work into his site! =D>
-
Yes, you can nominate http://www.knology.net/~blackjack52/index.php ;)
-
If eligible, I would like to nominate http://vermilionweather.com/index.html (http://vermilionweather.com/index.html). I love how the page fills my entire screen with current weather dials, maps and a live web cam.
-
I would like to nominate http://www.carterlake.org/index.php . Carterlake's layout uses an easy-on-the-eyes color scheme. A nice "Weather" site with just the area weather information. It's organized neatly where you can log-on and immediately see present conditions at a glance.
-
I nominate Danny's http://www.eldoradocountyweather.com/
It's an original design and is the most complete weather website on the internet. I know there are more than 2000 pages of information there.
I think originality, usability, attractive design, and quality of content is how I judge a site. I'm going to have a hard time voting for a template (and absolutely no offense to template users) when there are original and creative sites out there. Not that there is anything wrong with templates at all, it just takes a lot more work to be original.
Simply MHO. No offense to anyone. :-)

Dan,
Tom's www.carterlake.org website was honored for the Winter, 2006 WXForum.net Featured Weather Website already.
Since his site has not undergone a substantial redesign since then, it's probably not appropriate to give the award again for the same design. Similar thinking should be applied to any of the websites who have already been Featured -- if their site is changed substantially in features/functionality/overall look-and-feel, then they could be considered again.
Best regards,
Ken

I agree, Steve. Gary Oldham's original guidance cited While not a hard and fast rule, sites that only use the unmodified default web page template that comes with the software, while absolutely useful and functional, may not cross into that next level to warrant featuring in this manner. Feel free to try again. ;)
I see nobody has nominated Axelvold yet.
And if you can read THIS, you probably shouldn't be sitting so close to the screen.

It's OK, Gold Country appears to be stuck in 2003. Happens to the best of us.

Well I decided since it has been done in the past
I will nominate my own site: www.pepperridgenorthvalley.com (http://www.pepperridgenorthvalley.com)
This site contains a wealth of information including a weather glossary , a extensive detail section on the Arizona Monsoon Season, which seems to be winding down as we speak. The site also contains a detail climatological section for the station dating back to 1997, as well as the currents and lightning, forecast, warnings and a easy to navigate menu system.
