Difficulty registering via IPv6
« on: June 25, 2014, 12:53:16 PM »
Sorry to start off here with a bug report, but only a new user would probably notice. There is a bug in the re-captcha interface on registration -- it fails if the user is connected via IPv6. I kept getting an error message: "For security reasons, you must pass the remote ip to reCAPTCHA". I figured it out via Google searching the error message, disabled IPv6 temporarily and here I am. There is a bug fix at http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=457400.0

That is not an official bug fix to SMF just yet .. as the last poster said in that thread

[Fixing]The bad practice would require a complete overhaul of everything end to end to achieve and certainly won't happen any time soon though it does need doing.

I did install the ipV6 MOD from http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=3051 .. let's see how it goes for a while.

Best regards,
Ken

To clarify, the problem was strictly limited to the re-captcha during the registration process. I had no trouble browsing the forum as a guest before, or as a registered user since, via IPv6.
