How did you shut down your computer?  A complete power-off, or sleep/hibernate?
I have lost USB communications on some ports after "sleep" mode was activated.
A reboot, or unplug-plug cycle on the USB connector might help.

A few details might help.

What type of Davis system?  When did you buy it?  What kind of WeatherLink logger?  Did you follow the specific directions for installing the logger?

What kind of computer?  What operating system?  How is the logger connected to the computer?

What were the hiccups?  What happens if you have WeatherLink search for the connection?

That's just at start.

Vantage Vue bought this year Davis Data Logger followed the correct procedure for installation of the software and had it working but after a shutdown wouldn't work, PC running Win 8 prof, connection is by USB, hiccups were due to me not reading the manual but eventually sorted that out, haven’t  tried the last suggestion but will now if I can find out how, thanks for the reply

Thanks for the info.

One question was:

Did you follow the specific directions for installing the logger?

Shutting down all power (battery and AC) before installing the logger, etc.

Also, the Vue console sometimes has a problem with the logger getting pulled out - has that ever happened to you?  Are you using the foam insert to try to keep that from happening?

Yes.

And how did the search go?

"not had it long enough to have come across problems with pulling out"

Oh?  Then I suggest you reinstall the logger in the console, strictly following the procedure in the manual.

Info please.

I just read about some foam on your previous post.

1- What is it exactly?

2- I have a Belfryboy, do I need that foam also?

Thanks

You just need to make sure that the logger doesn't get disconnected from the console.  If it does, you have to power down the console completely and reinstall the logger.

O.K thanks, just put 2 tie rap on the console to tie the cable to it.

OK, so some of us have tried to help.  And things don't "sort themselves out".

It would probably be helpful to someone in the future, if you told us how you got things sorted out.

As for my Belfryboy I had to push hard on the connector to fix it correctly in the recess. It might be the way to go and I doubt it will disconnect by itself. With the 2 tie rap being add to the console it might need a tornado to take it apart.

Just my 2 cents.

I do agree, well previously when I started the Data Logger program I would get a blank screen with the various Icons and the menu along the top i.e. setup etc then when I clicked on the Bulletin Icon I would get the device not found message, I then opened the setup menu then Communication port after that it worked as I had not gone through that section, now it works and that section is greyed out, I am still exploring the other facilities one of which will be a web connection any help you can give me on that subject would be helpfull

So, you had not completely gone through the "Setup" procedure in WeatherLink?

Regarding setting up your "web connection" - depending on what you want to do, Davis' Application Note 26 might be helpful.  You will have to carefully follow the instructions.
