Comparison of VP2/WLIP baro and WLL baro
« on: May 02, 2019, 11:12:19 AM »
I have a EcoCelli liquid in tube barometer (supposed to replace mercury) and I have noticed that the barometer on the WLL seems to match it better than my other digital barometers.

I am attaching the plots from 3:00 AM this morning. "SunriseSideWeather.com" is the VP2 via WLIP. Rogers City WLL is the WLL (go figure).

The responsiveness is better on the WLL and the VP2/WLIP plot is much more smoothed. I believe this is why I am getting a better match to the EcoCelli.

See attachments. The names correspond to the plots.

Interesting. Does the WLL has an Altimeter option like the VUE console or is it like the VP2 console?

There is a place for altitude, which it must have picked up off from my location. 606 ft.

There is also a provision to enter the pressure.

I do not see any particular identification for Altimeter per se.

See attached.

Scroll down to 'Barometric Pressure' then 'Sea-Level Reduction Equation Used.'

Thanks, that is good to know. It looks like it is just "built in" and not configurable.

Then I see “Altimeter” under that...

Oh well.

If you set the elevation to “0” and set the barometric pressure to the nearest ASOS reading, would it work like the VP2 console?

Ummm, why would you? :???: Aren't you specifically wanting the altimeter? WLL reports just that, same as a Vue console. :???:

I would hope that when the local API gets released that the output is Station Pressure and not Altimeter. Then your weather software of choice can do with it what you want. If not and you want MSLP in your software then you will need to zero out elevation....which will then screw up weatherlink.com because it will then be getting Station Pressure also. Oh what a mess it will be if the API output isn't Station Pressure. Its going to be a mess if this happens even if you prefer Altimeter...because 3rd party software needs Station Pressure. Remember the mess before Loop2?

So perhaps weatherlink.com is an Altimeter displaying web service like CWOP, and the baro specifications just mean that the app display is also Altimeter.

Really silly if it can't do both like the Vue console.

Oh ok. I thought it only spit out SLP like the VP2 console. Good deal if it does what the Vue does.
