Banner help please
« on: July 02, 2011, 09:43:08 PM »
So I am failing miserably in "Banner 101", can any one offer assistance please.
I copied my members sticker from Wunderground and pasted it in my wxforum signature, as you can see I'm doing something wrong.
WOW, and I was thinking about attempting to create one of those fancy banners, LOL, I doubt anyone has enough patience - 1 step at at time I guess  #-o

on this forum ( and many others ) they use bbc code not html.  So the a href= isn't going to work here.  You can find the code "keys" here:

http://www.wxforum.net/index.php?action=help;page=post#bbcref

to insert an image, use
Code: [Select]
[img] [/img] a link is
Code: [Select]
[url][/url] etc.

good luck!

This is driving me nuts too! I must be doing something really dumb.

So I copy and paste my wunderground banner link into my signature box between and all I get is a red cross when I post. What have I missed? #-o #-o #-o

Thanks for your replys guys.

Thanks mackbig, that is exactly what I am after and with your example I've done it

I see you have to change the brackets and add img/url. Why does it not tell you that at WU or am I missing something else?

If I post these to a web page do they also have to be altered in the same way?

And one last question, to use the rapid fire version (http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/stickers.asp?ID=IHAMPSHI65&freq=5.0&units=metric&lang=EN second one down) here or on a web page does that need altering too?

sorry to hijack the thread but it is on topic and hopefully this will help others that don't have experience with this type of code.

Regards,

Duke

They are most likely showing how you add it to a web page.  This is a forum where normal HTML tags can't work.  You have to use BBCode instead.

You can't use that type of object on the forum.  You can add it pretty much as they show on your website though.
All you need is Time, Aptitude and Desire ... and you can build just about anything...

I've spent a few years trying to educate myself about weather and the environment, looks like I got to refocus for a while on HTML / TAGS / CODE etc.... to get my website up.

Thanks,

Duke
