Updated Firm Ware
« on: January 09, 2017, 11:27:57 AM »
Hi All,

Happy New Year!

I finally got around to update my FW to 8.3b2 and it seems to be working okay.

I was kinda reluctant in doing this because, with the earlier betas, my system went kinda berserk so I just went back to 7.4 for a long time, which was stable for me.

Now my question is:

What are a good starting points in the settings?

Is there anything I should do to this FW?

It seems that this beta has kept all of my 7.4 settings that I can see, so hope all is well there.

Thanks for any recommendations and suggestions.

Regards,

Hi Stan, I updated to FW 8.3b2 a while back also and have had no problems at all. In fact, I have noticed that I don't seem to be dropping into IDLE mode like I did with the prior version.

My old RED just keeps plugging along nicely.

Stan, Set them as they were previously... and make any changes from that point. Doubt you'll see any difference... there are a few bug fixes from the earlier betas... other than that, about all you'll notice are the compression 'indicators which show parts of the signal which aren't sent... which Egon periodically switches on and off on the server side...  There is a com bug in the 8 series RED betas that Tobi will fix when he releases a new firmware, but they've worked around that on the server side for now.

Mine has been pretty solid for several months. The only thing I noticed is the RED Systems DHCP client lease time is messy. constantly polling even though its lease time has not expired.
