No Dew Point
« on: January 19, 2009, 05:17:41 PM »
I am running an OS WMR-968. When I try to check my dew point LLL.LL displays, yet, when I go to my website and view broadcast display, or my weather sticker, the dew point is there. Any idea what the LLL.LLL is and how do I fix it? :?:

Hi,
I am glad you asked this question. I wanted to ask this before but it totally slipped my mind #-o .  My 968  is doing the same thing.  I have outside temp of 17F and a dewpoint of LL.L.  I think it is because the temperature is below some limit established by OS.  My VWS broadcast display shows a dewpoint of 11F.  I guess that the VWS software is calculating the dewpoint on it's own.  I hope someone will confirm my suspicions or correct them.

That is exactly the correct answer.  Just a limitation of the Console, when your temps warm up, it will come back.  But it is working as it was designed.  I think I read about it in the OS manual.

Thanks Sam,
I thought I read that also. Wasn't sure. BTW, where can I learn how to make a weather sticker like yours. I see a lot of them on the web and would like to create my own.

The script code is courtesy of Anole.  He has a lot of info on his site on how to create your own.  But your website must support PHP scripting.  Here is a link to his scripts, and a thread about it.

LLL.LL and HHH.HH are out of range indications.

I believe the outside temperature is -4 F  bottom limit (according to the OS and RS manuals).

Dew point determine by OAT and Humidity. it is caluated in the console and if it is outside the range to record the LED/LCD wil give you a LL.Ll for errors.  Most weather programs  do the math also and then post it. Wonder  how close they are .

Funny, that is what the weather station manual says.  However on the pages selling the sensor (thgr-268) it says
"Outdoor temperature range: -23.0F to +122F Outdoor temperature range: -58.0F to +140F with lithium batteries installed in remote sensor (available below)"

I know I have used my shack and stock sensor down to -25c (-13f) (verified by metar and analog thermo)

I got a "cold weather "thgn123nx" but have not installed because my current shack one is performing well.

It is rated at -40f with lithium.  which is strange since the regular says -58 with lithium?  Perhaps the ambient page for 268 is wrong.  The actual sensor manual for 268 says this ": -30.0°C to 60.0°C
(-22.0°F to 140.0°F)"

All still have the dewpoint/humidity stop at -10C though.

Luckily I haven't had to test the lower limit and I hope I never do.  I'm already ready for springtime!!!!
