Title: Heliport
Post by: galfert on April 17, 2019, 05:00:52 PM
There is a relatively new medical center type small hospital that opened about 5 years ago very near me. I just realized they have a heliport. It shows up on Windy when you click on Airports.

Strange thing is there seems to be no weather data. So why is it on the map? Says no METAR but maybe it has some other kind of weather reporting. I think it would be neat to get this heliports weather data ...if it has any. Anyone know if there is somewhere else on the Internet I could look to find this?  Who knows...maybe there is no weather station there but somehow shows up on the map for some reason.

Seems like the Heliport is named FA96. I don't know if that is an official name or something Windy decided to label it.

There is none. Stand alone heliports (not associated with a fixed wing airport) usually only have a lighted windsock for the pilot to use. FA96 is the FAA identifier which all airports and heliports that aren't private have (and some of those may too).

At Windy, we are using data from http://ourairports.com (http://ourairports.com).
