Sweet!  Gas has fallen below $2 again in Stillwater.  $1.99 at Murphy's.
That means it is on the way down for the rest of us.. Except California.

Stopped at local station on Thursday to put $10 into Forester to get me to Denver.  That was 3.33 gallons, $2.999 per gallon.  Filled up at Costco in Denver for $28.50 at $2.259 a gallon.

Hopefully after Labor Day, the price will come down locally.  Not holding my breath, though.

What I seemed have noticed is that the prices bottom out, then they quickly rise like 40 cents then slowly creep down again. It's been a pattern for a while now.
Three times I have seen them get close to $2, once to even $1.99, then they rise real quick.

Krojan, a question, on average how many miles a year does an "average" person drive in Poland? I know that's a very wide question, but as a round number I bought my car 12 years ago and since I've averaged 12,500 miles a year. Some of that was longer trips to/from Mexico when I lived there, but now I drive many more short trips into towns for shopping etc. but the average still seems to be somewhere near 12,000 miles per year. Just curious, having never visited your country I'm interested.

I make about 10,000 miles a year, and this is probably the average one travels in Poland.
For me, commuting alone is 8,000 miles a year.
The average annual income in my country is 15384 USD gross.
Gasoline prices are similar across Europe, but average incomes are very different.
I have never been to your country.

Thanks, that gives me a better picture. At that cost, it's a significant cost on average. I suppose one factor of course is the type of vehicle. Here in Texas we like big cars, trucks etc. I have an older small SUV which gets about 20mpg on average so not too bad. Of course lots of folks drive smaller cars with better mileage but I need this one to pull a trailer.

20 mpg is 14.1 l / 100km, so it smokes like a dragon.
My car smokes about 5.6 l / 100km, so 50 mpg.

Just looked back at odometer records I keep on gas fillups.  From July/August of 2014 until now, I've logged a little over 13,000 miles on both cars combined for an annual average of around 2,700 miles driven total.

Gas had gotten down to $2.21.

Today a new state of Alabama gasoline tax goes into effect...  .06 increase today to end up at .10 in the future.  Already with an .18 tax, that will eventually make a .28 tax per gallon.

Alabama does not have a lottery.  Over the years there have been political threats/warnings/conspiracies/whatevers that if Alabama didn't get a lottery that tax would have to go up.  The politicians held off long enough to at least get this gas tax instituted...now they'll probably let a lottery come in.  But, I'll betcha .10 a gallon that the gas tax stays on.  The government bean counters will be the last breathing roaches left when this country's economy crumbles.  The little weasel sitting at a desk in a government building sneaking dollars from your back pocket will make dang sure there's enough money to pay him/herself when things get hairy.

Sorry, not in a good mood this morning.

I feel your pain. We're at .20 per gal here in TX with gas prices at $2.13 yesterday. Could be worse, Penn is at $.587 per gal state tax?

Looks like we're $2.06 but with the Saudi thing probably right about this being the bottom.

They are saying we will soon see upwards of $100/barrel. Amazing how that attack has affected half of Saudi oil but that only represents just about 5% of world supply, yet it is expected to significantly impact pricing. The Saudi's are calling the drone attack, believed to be from Iran, as a Pearl Harbor moment.

We'll see what it is in Del Rio on the border today, I'm heading down to Cuidad Acuna, MX to see if I can talk Bancomer into giving what's left of my money back to me?

I filled up at the border for $2.33 a gal, I didn't check the prices in MX due to price per liter in pesos and the exchange rate for pesos is too complicated for me to deal with. When I lived there I'd just go in and say say doscientos por favor and drive until I needed to get more? The good news is that I'm now officially divorced from MX, 2 hours and a lot of help ended my (negative) "investment" in MX. But, it was a great adventure and I'd not change a thing - well, not much - ha.

I'll care in a few months when I come up through KS on my way to NE for the annual family reunion, so just keep it at that level and I'll put it in the budget - ha.
