Hamweather Metars

Is anyone else having trouble with downloading METARs from Hamweather?  It's saying the file is retrieved but there is no data.  The last download I received was at 6:53 PDT.

I received a response from Joe on the Weatherforyou forum:
Quote
I was actually distributing those from my servers which are hosted on the Amazon AWS system.  HAMweather hasn't done in in quite a few years.  Yesterday Amazon forced an update/reboot of all instances to patch a security vulnerability and that broke some of the scripts used to download the data.  I'm going to try and restore everything but I'm not sure how soon.  The scripts are actually about 15 years old and I don't have help with the maintenance like I used to.  I didn't know VWS was still using them and the other options weren't available anymore.  But I'll see what I can do over the next few days.

Hopefully, it will be up and running soon.

It's not working yet. NOAA script does not work long ago. I have the feeling that VWS has become an abandonware and that it's time to change the program

Hamweather METARs are working again.  I agree with you on VWS, half of the features are no longer functional.  What's sad is that Ambient is still actively selling the software on their website.  They make no mention of the fact that it's broken though they do recommend a 30-day trial before purchase.

Yes, this program needs an upgrade, urgent. For example, WeatherDisplay has online support 24 hours a day and Brian accepts user suggestions. However, VWS is a much preferred program for me...
