2013 Ice Storm - Southern Ontario - Greater Toronto Area
« on: December 24, 2013, 08:22:48 AM »
5-10mm of ice on night one, and 25-30mm on night two.  That's about 1.5 inches for the southern neighbours.
Here's a select bunch from the 160 I took yesterday when the sun came out.  I have 500 more to go through.

Another round of wacky weather thanks to a Texas low and a "polar vortex".

10-15cm's of snow, then freezing rain, rain, freezing rain, snow, wind, flash freeze, and winchills in the -40's tonight.

The freezing rain was relatively light compared to the 2 storms that crippled us on Dec 21/22.   But enough to lock up my anny direction at about 3:30am.   Luckily the wind speed is still working.

Andrew

ps: still have my generator at the standby, but there is no salt or ice melter at any of the big box stores or anywhere in the GTA.  Saw people walking out of Candian Tire Saturday with water softener salt.   I have 20 pounds of Alaskan still from first wave, but it wont make a dent on my drivewayice rink.

We got the snow overnight with some 2 foot drifts but that was all.  Now starting to get colder as that warning is saying.  I haven't even started or serviced my generator as yet, but at least I got the snow blower warmed up.

Got my anny direction back.  I know it didnt melt, so must have been a good gust that knocked it free.  The wind is howling now.   I just checked, my high gust was a 6:46pm, my direction came back around the 6:50 update.

Chilly commute in the am

Oddly enough it wasnt the crackhead's idea. It was the "sane" ones debating that idea.
