Running Wired versus Wireless
« on: December 29, 2007, 11:47:57 PM »
Hey Gang:

I have a 2317-EL and wanted to get more frequent updates.

Am I reading the users manual correctly?  If I am in 'wired' mode, will I get updates every 8 seconds..this appears to be what the manual says...in wireless mode, it's 16 to 128 seconds depending on wind speed.  Can that be right?

Wired mode. Less chance of interference from outside sources and quicker updating.

I'll expand on that: wireless mode, although it does have some advantages, can be prone to interference from electrical appliances, poorly shielded computers, etc. Also, the placement would need to be pretty good so as not to block 'line of sight' transmission. Buildings, trees, etc between the transmitter and the console can cause problems.
