Title: In to the Storm
Post by: ocala on August 09, 2014, 05:42:42 PM
This started Friday. Anyone see it?
From the previews I saw it looks like a dud with all the computer aided graphics, but I could be wrong.

I just got back from seeing it.  It wasn't as bad as some "reviews" were indicating.  A couple I read compared this to "found footage" films like "Blair Witch", but it's not like that at all.  Sure, they used cell phones and GoCams are featured quite a bit, but it wasn't like they shot the whole film that way.  (i.e it's not all shaky hand-held cam footage)

It's not a documentary.  It's just entertainment.  There are all kinds of things one could pick apart, but just set that aside and enjoy it for what it is.

I'd rank it a little below "Twister", but much better than most "direct-to-SyFy Channel" disaster movies.  The effects were not quite as cheesy as I expected.

The only other movie I thought was better this summer was "Apes".

- Agreed.  :-)
I just saw the movie and it was entertaining. I liked the comedy relief that the red-neck storm chasers provided.

Saw the movie today and while some of the effects were corny most of it was good. Will buy when it comes out.

P.s. did anyone else notice on one of the weather computers in one of the vehicles had WeatherLink software running?

There was an article in my local paper the other day http://www.hngnews.com/sun_prairie_star/community/article_a823ed00-1f00-11e4-9ed9-0017a43b2370.html (http://www.hngnews.com/sun_prairie_star/community/article_a823ed00-1f00-11e4-9ed9-0017a43b2370.html) it turns out the director was 2 years behind me at Sun Prairie High School. He has done pretty well working with many of the top directors including alot with James Cameron.

I wonder how much they paid for product placement?  That's a big deal nowadays.

I sent an email to Davis asking about this. Maybe we'll find out soon.

As well as a Arkley Richards C5 and D5C sensors. And the R.M. Young and Ultrasonic anemometer. Probably getting some kind of commission or royalties for the usage.

My wife was two years behind Madonna in high school and never cared for her.  But Madonna's brother was in her class, and she says he is a nice guy.

Well I couldn't find anything that remotely resembled a script in this movie. Really a terrible one.
