Title: Flooding Threat in Ohio River Valley
Post by: Farmtalk on November 27, 2011, 01:43:24 PM
There is a high threat for widespread flooding in the Ohio River Valley. This area got slammed with rain last week, and upwards of 5 inches are expected in the next 5 days according to the HPC. We received 2.6 inches last week and are expecting at this point around 3" of rain in the next 5 days.. We had some fairly minor flooding last week, but the ground wasnt saturated then.......

Not too far from me, the Ohio has risen over 14' in the last 10 days and may go to Action Stage later this week.

(yeah, that's FEET, not inches)

Based on that map, I would watch out for everyone down river from Cincy because it looks like there's a LOT more rain to come :-(

We received 1.18" today and that puts us +4" over monthly average and +10" over yearly average rainfall. They have watches and warnings posted, but no floods around here yet.

The HPC said we were gonna get 2.5 inches earlier this afternoon and by the way it looked i was gonna be surprised if we got an inch....Now they are saying we are gonna get 1.5 inches lol...

It dosent look good for the Ohio River Im afraid...Watch those levels everyone! And eventually this will hit the Mississippi River :-(

The way the streams run out of all of the hollows out of here, a couple of inches of rain here can do a lot of damage John ;). The whole entire Ohio River Basin is based on these little streams, and when they fill up, the Ohio comes up fast
