None of those tracks are good, but I especially don't like the NOGAPS and UKMET ( http://www.wunderground.com/tropical/tracking/at200605_model.html )

Good luck down there!

Looks like the new track is along the SE coast.  Been lucky with my Mrytle Beach vacation again it seems, I always miss these things either a week before or after a storm comes.  Hopefully ncpilot will just have some rainy weather.

Crap!

Just read Jeff Masters' blog on wunderground, possibly looking worse for the Carolina's...

You just can never tell...

I'm taking Fri off anyway (not weather related), should be a nice 4 day weekend--NOT!

If we get hit, I'll put up a link to my network cam--if I can find a good window for viewing...

Damn! You guys down in FL are way too quiet!!

Are you busy or something?

Looks like Fri might be an "inclement" weather day for me...

Plenty of time to visit the liquor store!

Take care down there...

BTW, you guys can have Jim, I want Stephanie up here in Wilmington, and I've already sent my request to the Weather Channel...

All you hurricane folks just ruin gas prices for the rest of us!
Wait til around Thursday and it will go up about twenty cents a gallon.

At least those of us in tornado alley don't mess with the rest of you.

Here we go again! And, I'm not talking about hurricanes, either. I mean it's time once again to tune in and watch all the news morons standing outside in the wind and rain with their little hand-held anemometers. While we civilized folks on the SE coast watch them on TV..... INSIDE.

The more I see Cantori/insert name of other news morons here, the more it ticks me off. Hey Jim and all you other idiots. It's really windy during a hurricane. We don't need you to stand outside for the three thousandth time to prove it to us.

Not that I wish anybody to get hurt but it would certainly be amusing to see one of these dips getting pinged with some debris!

Sadly, I can't decide if I really mean that or not.

I would love to have a job where I could go where hurricanes make landfall.
Imagine getting paid to do that! Sign me up. I agree some of these people are idiots but it's still cool to see video of 120mph winds.
Looking at the last 4 hours of a composite loop of the Miami and Keys radar the convection has increased considerably. On its present track it looks like Taveneir in the Keys is the likely spot.
If it gets into the gulf it could intensify more and make things interesting for Anole and Capeweather.
We shall see.

I have no problem with the videos of storm winds. But I don't need to see some idiot standing out in it for ratings purposes. It's a pet peeve of mine.

<rant=on>
I never really used to have a problem with it until Charley. What kind of set me off on this was how a certain Weather Channel kept showing pictures of this one particular sailboatwas capsized and beached supposedly as a result of the building winds and surf. The only problem was that that particular boat had been in that position for about 2 months and it's problems had nothing to do with Charley. Now whenever I see this junk on TV I stop watching, whether its the local dweebs or TWC.

I almost never watch TWC any more. Every time I flip over to it they have some show on instead of the current weather. I don't turn to the weather to see some BS show about the great flood of 1872. I turn to TWC to find out the current weather and to see their forecasts. This was really driven home last night when I flipped over at 11:00 to get their take on the 11:00pm Ernesto advisories, etc and instead was treated to a show about a hurricane that hit last year. I watched through the first break and not a word on the 11:00pm advisory for a currently active storm. If I wanted to see yet another story about Katrina I'd turn over to Discovery or TLC.

<rant=off>

It really does seem that way.  The last 41 times I've tuned in, it's been either at 8pm ET or 11pm ET.

Talking of phoney news stories, after Hurricane Floyd in 1999 visited my neighborhood, a film crew from the local NBC station came out and shot some video of trees across the street from my home. They had been torn up and broken down from Fran, which came through in 1996. The video made the national network news the next day, while a voice in the background was describing all the terrible destruction that the storm had done to our area.

Although Floyd was a nasty storm and caused considerable flooding to mostly inland areas of NC, no one ever knew that the trees shown on the video were damaged 3 years previously. And, anyone could clearly see that the trees in the video were even showing signs of decay and rot.

Since then, I really don't pay much attention to news reports when it comes to the weather. And, I always keep in mind that TV news industry is really in the business of selling commercial time.

I'm sure you all have seen this one about the New Jersey flood - its so dishonest.  At least Matt Lauer calls the reporter out on the deception (its after the Bush story):

Oh yeah, baby! Could be an entry level Cat 1 by the time it hits my back yard!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2 PM NHC update, sustained winds of 70mph with higher gusts... we should see the TS gusts by dinner time or so, with the peak hitting more around midnight...

I hate it when they come through at night...

But on the bright side, with it's speed, it should be gone by afternoon...

We're getting "some" rain...

A nice "training" storm for all the newcomers!

After it zooms through my neighborhood, it appears as if it will then continue up through to NE Ohio.
