Recommend a pocket / portable weather radio?
« on: March 04, 2018, 09:22:58 PM »
I'm looking for a pocket / portable weather radio. It would be great to find something that I could configure with S.A.M.E codes and event blocking (if any have one or both of those features). Thanks!

I have a Radio Shack model 12-522 and when in strong electromagnetic fields, it stops working and even loses its settings. So I'd avoid that one. In electrically quiet areas it would probably be a good radio.
Davis VP2 (cabled) Uploading to PWS, Weather Underground, Weathercloud, WOW, WeatherBug, AWEKAS and Twitter, using Cumulus.  Cabled = fewer problems, less maintenance and better reliability!

If'n ya' got a phone type gizmo, there are a few 'apps' ( I hate that term) for them that can be configured.  Some have ads though, but I've found one or two that don't, or at least not 'in your face' ones.

Are there specifically any portable weather radios that support Event Blocking? I can't seem to find any...

I went with the AcuRite portable one with the AC adaptor base station. Thanks, guys! :)

It's very easy to set up. The one strike against it is that you cannot turn off alerts for any of the Warnings which is really annoying.
