FYI: I found lots of 5 used Oregon Scientific THGR122NX Thermo Hygro Sensors on Ebay.  I bought myself a set, just in case.

I thought maybe somebody else might be interested in completing the "sensor package" of their station or as backups.

Can't go wrong for about $21.00

Looks like that particular listing has already ended. I wonder if the seller has any more?

Thanks,

Add them on your Ebay seller list to watch for activity later, I did.

When I bought mine last night, they had 5 sets of 5 sensors for sale.

Those are good sensors.  Just wish the tx range was a bit more.
I have several, but just use one "live".  Others on the shelf for "that occasion".
Wife constantly asks "why do you save so many spare parts...you never use them!"
Nice purchase there, Sam.  Good luck with them.  8-)

Obviously this guy has a friend at the warehouse... if they are used, the only way to get 5, let alone groups of 5 would be from returns to OS.

Scratch this part of post, the listing for the 122NX was expired, and I clicked on one for some BTHR968s.....
Henry, you have had trouble with tx range of indoor unit?  Mine has always been 1st floor vs 2nd floor console opposite side of house.  My only issue ever with the indoor station is that when battery goes the baro spikes/tanks, time between indicator on and complete failure is about a week, compared to outdoor sensors that can last a year with light on...  You can actually see this in picture on listing.  The 5 shown all track pretty well, but bottom right is showing 600mb, so either the sensor is junk or it low batt effect.

I think he just dropped the X, his link back to OS is to the NX page.

Here is an interesting thing I read on the OS site about this sensor

ATTENTION: This temperature and humidity sensor transmits temperature information in Fahrenheit to any compatible main display unit. The sensor's onboard LCD screen will only show temperature in Celsius format

Andrew

Here are some THGR122Ns that are also on the same deal from the same guy.  Not sure what the difference between THGR122NX and THGR122N is though.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Lot-of-5-Oregon-Scientific-THGR122N-Thermo-Hygro-Sensor_W0QQitemZ270439730070QQcategoryZ48624QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp4340.m183QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DSICDD%26its%3DI%252BC%252BS%252BIA%26itu%3DSI%252BUS-BWR%252BUCI%252BIA%252BUCC%252BPSS%252BCRS%252BIT%252BUA%26otn%3D4%26ps%3D33

Here are some THN122N Temp sensors only as well.

That is a very observant catch.  On the "N" only models he shows a pic of the back of the unit.  So it is for sure a "N" Only unit.  I am still trying to figure out the difference between the NX and N models.

Manual for the N version.
http://www.weathershop.com/manual/thgr122n.pdf

Manual for the NX version on Oregon's site opens up as the same manual for the N.  So the only difference I think is perhaps a manufacturing revision of some type.  In other words the same unit, just a "build" change.

A google search found this manual for the N model:

As with most OS literature, it's not very specific or informative.   #-o

Also, I noticed that the WMR968 is not listed in the compatability table on the ebay listings.

That is true, Greg.

The THGR122N is not shown to be compatible with the wmr968, but the THGR122NX is shown this (back to the orginal ebay link).  I suspect that the N model will work with wmr968 OR on the other side, the big difference between the two versions is that the NX was built to work with the wmr968.  However, you will notice in the compatibility charts that some other Weather station/systems allow use of both sensor versions together.  And they are of the 2.1 Protocol.

Perplexing this is.  #-o

I am using a 122NX now on my 968 and am very pleased with it's performance.  For $10, I'm tempted to buy a set of 5 just to see if they will work.  If they don't work, it wouldn't be that  big of a loss.  Hmmmm.    :-k

Well if you do it, let us know what you find out.  Either way this ebay seller deserves to be watched for other "deals" in the future.

The 122N sensors came today.  I don't have much time, as they've called me in to work tonight and I've got to take a nap.  But I did try one and it does transmit to the wmr968 (I have it going to channel 2).  So I guess it was a good buy.  (a blind hog finds an acorn every once in a while!)

I have not gotten my NXs yet.    I just checked my email today, and they sent me an email a few hours ago that they are shipping them out today.  I wonder what is taking so long.

Hey my eyesight is still good.

Not to hijack the thread but I just got done writing a somewhat lengthy email to OSI letting them know of mine and others' disatisfaction with the THGR968 sensor and it's problems.
To my surprise I have gotten several emails back telling me that they will pass this on to the senior engineers for invesitgation. I know, I know , don't start yet witht the usual "Believe it whan I see it" routine. I am a little more curious this time with the unusual quick responses to my emails. I also let them know about this site and encouraged them to look at the forum for the complaints and problems we have seen with this sensor (THGR968).

FWIW,

Jim

I think that's great!   =D>  Unless there's been a complete change of personnel there in the past year, they should be well aware of my dissatisfaction.  But, the more the merrier!  I hope more people contact them about that.  If the THGR968 was more reliable and accurate, it would be a top-notch unit.

Thats wonderful. Hopefuly somethign wll come of this. I've had two fail in 6 1/2 years. So far I have not replaced the second one. Have been using a THGR268. If it should fail. I have two more.

On a second note. I think they need to come out with yet another new station. That has better rain resolution and a better anemometer.

Thanks,
Anthony
