(unless you can build one of the wireless connector things described elsewhere on this forum).

How do I find the threads for this?

note that you need to be able to build one your self
or purchase one from SLOWeather (if he has any left or is going to be making more)

I would only be recommending to go down that route if you are good with electronics and can use a soldering iron

Is the weatherlink software any good?  Is it worth $160 for a USB version?  Do they sell the cable by itself?

Not to a USB port AFAIK.  Works for a serial port though.  PM Sloweather for details.

Yup, I have assembled units for sale. (I bought 500 boards from the board house, so I'm not likely to run out any time soon.)

I'll PM him back with the sales page.

lots of confusion here
there is one version of weather link
there is 2 versions of the data logger (serial or USB)
weather link software comes with the data logger
the package comes with a connecting cable
all this has been covered many times before on this forum ( a forum search will show up results)

not just cost though
you can not as easily separate the sensors with the Vue

there is lots of different software
if you get weatherlink, thats a start point
or use one of the other data logger options noted above (e.g SLOWeather's data logger)

Is there any Quality difference between the vantage vue and the pro2 or just the fact that you can seperate the censors? and is the pro 2 worth the extra money?

The other point is that the wireless VP2 console can receive data from up to 7 more wireless sensors, and that the ISS can be purchased or retrofit with solar and UV sensors, which the Vue cannot.

"Is there any Quality difference between the vantage vue and the pro2 or just the fact that you can separate the censors?" I believe the Vue and the VP2 have the same sensors and the same specifications and Accuracy. HOWEVER!

"is the pro 2 worth the extra money?" I think so. To me, mounting the ISS at the proper, maintainable height, ( 5'), and the anemometer higher is important.

I am so glad that when I got my VP2 the Vue was not available. I would probably have purchased it to save a few bucks and been unhappy. If I was starting over today, with my vast knowledge  , I would buy the VP2 only, mount it on a fence post and start looking. You will need a datalogger and a couple are available on this forum. I have purchased 3 Davis Weatherlink units from ebay ( I have 1 shrink wrapped left ) for $75 -$85. After the Datalogger, I would get Cumulus software (donationware) and start accumulating data.

Now you can start deciding on a permanent location for your equipment. My local mounting probably cost around $100. You can do it for less, if you remote mount anemometer it will be more. The thing is, you don't have to do it all at once.

Thankx alot guys i just look at the vue on e-bay at 289.00 and 550.00 for the pro2 and wonder how if i would add more sensors ,probly not, but having it seperated  with the temp closer to the ground intead of having the roof heat affect it makes more sence.

You can get a Vue from rainmanweather.com for $257.95, a wireless VP2 for $385.99, or a wireless VP2 Plus with solar and UV for $635.98.

Call Rob and ask for the unadvertised price, or go to the website and create an account to see the special pricing.

Well guys i took the plunge and ordered the Vantage Vue. I talked it over with Rob at Rainman Weather and told him about my yard space and other things and he suggested the vue would work better for me. So i went to Menards and bought the pole and the antenna tripod and mounted it up on my garage roof in waiting for the UPS man to pull up on the 30th. I also bought the IP version so i can brodcast it on a weather site.   \:D/  I'm thinking i might have to come back on here and ask how and the heck to get this up and running but i'll give it a go.

You should read the manuals for the Vue and the Weatherlink, prior to the UPS arrival: http://www.davisnet.com/support/weather/support_docs.asp?dtype=1  That way you will know what you will need to do for the set up and assembly of the Vue and IP logger.

There will be a pop test on them on Monday.   ;)

Atta boy!   =D>

I'm sure you'll like it.  I don't know much about the IP thing, but I know that we'll all give you plenty of moral support!   =D> =D>
