And to add insult to injury, nothing, I mean nothing will touch or eat those animals (now). Buzzards will not even look at them as they fly over.

I did not know that. Interesting. I hope the rancher had insurance.

It's not just trees you have to worry about.
This is from last month.

I think that's more of an urban legend. I've never known scavengers to turn away from any meal.
Typically with a kill that large, a "dead wagon" will come take them away for "processing", like taking the hide. It used to be you would get a little money for the carcass on pickup, but now you might be lucky for them to haul them away for free.

In response to tbrasel: You are so wrong. So very very wrong.
Skunks, wolves, eagles, turkey vultures, foxes, mountain cats, dogs, feral pigs, the list goes on and on.
Protein is too hard to come by in nature to let anything of substance go to waste. Anything from deer road kill to farm animals, all will be consumed.
Proof? Been there, watched that many times over on farm.

They could be more hungry where you live.
But I have had cattle for 53 years, go through this about every 600 days & drag them off & hope what you articulate happens, cause it is such a waste.
All I can testify to is what I have observed, living.
