Help!! **solved**
« on: August 02, 2016, 08:44:47 AM »
Hi Guys,

my station has stopped transmitting data.  I have a Davis vantage Vue, with a Belfryboy data logger and Meteobridge.  All looks fine however in the Meteobridge system tab, I notice the following errors on reboot

wnetd (02.08.2016 13:44:15): process started.
logger (02.08.2016 13:44:15): Historical data loaded (19 records).
logger (02.08.2016 13:44:15): data logger (version 5.0q, build 10240) started.
logger (02.08.2016 13:44:16): station 0 (Vantage), can't open device /dev/ttyMH: No such file or directory

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi

Have you tried a full power-cycle on all devices? I would first boot Vue and then Meteobridge.

In Meteobridge under the Weather Station Tab, which Station is selected and how is it configured?

/dev/ttyMH  - sounds like its looking for MeteoHub?

I don't have the Belfryboy but does it need any setup or configuration?

Maybe the Meteobridge is not recognizing the proper logger/settings?

Tried with a usb-hub in-between meteobridge and vue? Or maybe a new usb-cable (if the bell is like the logger from davis)?

It has never had a problem before with out a hub plus it's a belfryboy logger so I am unable to change USB cable.

It wasn't the pro version, could an automatic update have caused the issue?

So you are not willing to test anything that was not in the setup before?

No, I will need to get a hub first to try.  Sorry I didn't mean to sound ungrateful for the help

I know its not much but have you tried taking out the logger from Vue and putting it back so make sure connection is ok?

Boris (Meteobridge) always advices to use a hub between Meteobridge and logger.

When you give me remote access, I can check things. Must be something with your configuration.
Please send URL and password to "info(at)meteobridge.com".

I'm having the same error with my meteobridge but I'm using a meteostick to receive data from my Davis Vantage Pro2.
I get the same message every 30 seconds after startup.
After a while it detects the meteostick and then it's okay.
I'm not having any problems regarding data transfer etc.
When meteobridge reports no such file or directory....no live data will be seen.
I just leave it and it will detect the meteostick and then its running fine.
I'm very pleased with my setup.

Now this is also happening for me  :-(

(Vantage), can't open device /dev/ttyMH: No such

Not very satisfying, I really hope Boris will look into this.

Station is Vantage Pro2.

When you enable remote login and send the remote login URL and password to "info(at)meteobridge.com" I am happy to have a look at it. Are you using a TL-MR3020 as hardware?

Turns out that the problem was related to a bad connection between logger (davs, tiny cable) and usb-cable.

Nothing to do with the MeteoBridge
Sorry for pointing at the Meteobridge

Getting the same error message.

"logger (03.12.2016 08:46:47): station 0 (Vantage), can't open device /dev/ttyMH: No such file or directory"

I have a Davis Vantage Pro2 using a Meteobridge with a Belfry boy cable. I also have it connected with a USB Hub. After several attempts of cycling the power, I can get it to start working but stops passing data after a couple of hours.

Grateful for any ideas of what I can do. Strangely when I look at my live data on the Meteohub, I see rain and wind min and max data but everything else is blank.

Thanks again for any help!

Edit: Also I'm using a TL-MR3020 as my bridge.

Just wanted to follow-up and say I may have solved the problem for anyone else with this problem. I know the conventional wisdom is to use a USB hub to go from USB 1.0 to the USB 2.0 of the MR3020, but I bypassed it and just plugged the Belfryboy cable straight in. And although it's only been 48 hours, it's working like a champ and seems to be more stable.

With the hub, I would have to continually cycle the power of the bridge and the console and keep doing it until I got data moving. Plugging straight in, it took right off humming along nicely. I got my Belfry cable in early 2016 so not sure if anything changed on his end to negate the need for a hub.

The BelfryBoy cable uses a USB 2.0 compliant cable and chipset, so should not need the hub, but YMMV.
