Software for Streaming
« on: January 17, 2017, 04:48:49 PM »
My website is over 6 years running and i did have a streaming webcam on it for the first 3 years or so. I want to add a streaming cam again and have been playing with Yawcam the last few days but i find it very limiting. I'm wondering what are people using now to stream? I will be using a Logitech c310 webcam. I was also considering doing a live feed during daylight hours on Youtube but the whole encoding procedure put me off. Anyway all advice would be appreciated

Mike

Mike,

I see you currently have a streaming webcam on your website from YouTube. What are you using at this time for this stream?

Yeah its been running about a week now with no issues. You need OBS software installed as the encoder. The rest of the set up is through Youtube. There is a guide how to do it on Youtube. I'm using a Logitech C310 webcam but also have a Logitech 9000 which is better so may switch to that going forward.

Yes, OBS is quite easy to setup and stream to YouTube. I've tried both it and XSPLIT Broadcaster. Still looking for something else. I may go with webcamXP or webcam7 since they handle more than one webcam input. I don't think OBS can do that.

I started using http://www.ispyconnect.com/download.aspx. It is a bit of a resource hog, but it has a LOT of features such as movie time lapse, snapshot time lapse, upload to cloud and you tube, text, etc.
