Upgrade to windows 10
« on: July 28, 2015, 02:12:31 PM »
I started using VWS basic 14 on windows 8. It worked perfectly until I upgraded to 8.1. Then it would not open. It turned out that I should have upgraded to VWS basic 15 before I upgraded to 8.1. I am now contemplating upgrading to windows 10. Will I have to upgrade VWS first? and if so where from and what to?

I don't have an answer for the OP but I downloaded the latest VWS (v15.0, p03) after I installed Windows 10 (since my Win 7 version wouldn't work) and it functions fine except for one thing.

My VWS is supposed to start with Windows 10 and it doesn't. In Task Manager, vws is listed in the startup menu but it doesn't run for some reason. Some bug somewhere would be my guess. It will get worked out.

I had a temporary panic during the install of Win10, where all of my desktop icons would launch what appeared to be a new installation of each program. I was busy working on other issues, so I left it and came back to it.

When I logged back in, it updated the configuration and everything seems to be back in place. Whew!

Thanks guys. I am now re-assured. Incidentally mine has never started with windows either. I always start it manually.

Ive never been able to get VWS to load when windows reboot's, I downloaded a program called Glary utilities and it has as its first option the startup list where you can add programs you want started when windows starts up. Ive added VWS and CWOP it work's very good. My issue now with Win 10 is my computer will restart and prompt me for a password Im still working on this issue. ](*,)

Thanks GWD for the info I went back into regedit after your link told me how to create the DefaultPassword entry my computer is now rebooting without requiring the password. Thank you very much \:D/
