SLP Pressure Reduction Formula
« on: April 19, 2015, 10:22:06 AM »
I am trying to find a source for the old Pressure recuction values used in the days of the APN-85 for US airports (KPRC). These used the format of r=B0 - B1*Tav + B2 Tav^2. At the same time, I cannot seem to find out the magic formulas for reduction used today for Pst to Psl. I live near KPRC and fixed offset are out of the question. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks but no. I am looking for reduction values established by NWS or NOAA to plug into the APN sliderule for different stations (KPRC). This article shows the process, but only has sample stations. http://www.nwas.org/digest/papers/1981/Vol06No2/1981v006no02-Augustine.pdf
The results are pretty close for the sample stations. Other simple formulas found on web are not good for elevated stations. I would surmize that these r values are based on WBAN calculations.
