Windows xp hang at startup
« on: June 22, 2009, 07:17:18 PM »
My PC has started to hang during the first windows splash screen. The progress bar just freezes. I have to hit reset and it will boot up again fine. I've added no new hardware or software although there have been some AV updates and a new java update. I realize this could be caused by a host of issues but where do I start? Thanks.
Bill

Start in SAfe Mode and do a roll back to  known working version.

You may want to do a check disk, should be under System Tools or something (I am not currently at an XP computer right now).  If you have the XP disk, you could also try to Repair indows, maybe a file is corrupt.
