NWS Forecast Icon Showing Hurricane but Forecast Correct
« on: April 16, 2015, 04:01:12 PM »
Hi,

This is the second or third time this has happened recently. One time it was just the Overcast Icon and the same forecast night and day for the next seven days. Twice it has been the Hurricane Icon but the correct forecast. The short term at the top of the page and the extended at the bottom are now missing the forecast. I did the upgrade by Ken. Most of the time it works fine but it does this strange thing. Any ideas.

Very strange.  The code in your dashboard is generating
Code: [Select]
            <table align="center" width="230" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="4">
                <tr>
                    <td class="data1" align="center" style="text-align: center; font-size: 11px; border: 1px solid gray;" >
                        <b>Rest<br />Of<br />Today</b><br /><img src="./forecast/images/" width="55" height="55" alt="" title="" /><br /><br /><br /><br/>
                                            </td>
                    <td align="center" style="text-align: center; font-size: 11px; border:  1px solid gray;" >
                        <b>Tonight<br /></b><br /><img src="./forecast/images/" width="55" height="55" alt="" title="" /><br /><br /><br /><br/>
                                            </td>
                    <td align="center" style="text-align: center; font-size: 11px; border:  1px solid gray;" >
                        <b>Friday<br /></b><br /><img src="./forecast/images/" width="55" height="55" alt="" title="" /><br /><br /><br /><br/>
                                            </td>
                </tr>

                <tr>
                    <td align="center" colspan="3">
                        <a href="http://www.spc.noaa.gov/" target="_blank" title="NWS Storm Prediction Center in New Tab">
                        <img src="http://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/activity_loop.gif" alt="SPC Activity Map" style="height:195px;width:265px;border:1px solid gray" /></a>
                    </td>
                </tr>
            </table>
but... there's no actual image specified.. just a directory, and likely the hurricane image is the first one so it shows.

Looking at your wxforecast.php page shows
Code: [Select]

and note that the forecast images are missing Icons!
'<img src="/images/wtf/small/" width="55" height="58" alt="" title=""'

The URL http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=36.23493&lon=-86.38174295425415&unit=0&lg=english&FcstType=text&TextType=2 produces a proper page (Text with Icons) if a ?force=1 is used.

This may be a transient glitch with the NWS..  If the ?force=1 doesn't bring it back, then I can debug further.

Best regards,
Ken

Well I did the script again. reloaded no change. Cleared by browser cache and it is working right again. I had 3.14 before so wonder what is going on.

Our replies crossed in cyber space. I re did the install of 3.14 and did a browser cache refresh and it went back to normal. HMMM.
