Title: PWS Wind Direction data - Weather Underground and the Storm App ??
Post by: MrM1 on June 21, 2017, 10:57:55 AM
I was just wondering,  with WU's app storm,  When using the windstream overlay (the view with moving arrows of wind direction and speed) ... does WU collect and collaborate that data from the various PWS's along with official sites?  Or is there some other way they calculate and create this map overlay.  Wondering if they are using my data (aka PWS data) for this overlay.

I find the windstream overlay in storm very useful and unique in following tropical cyclone activity.

Good question.
For current data I would guess they are using NWS reporting sites and AWOS sites.
I don't know of any app that  uses PWS data for wind graphics.
