Title: METAR archive
Post by: miraculon on August 03, 2015, 09:48:27 AM
I was looking for wind data during yesterday's storm. I found this (http://weather.rap.ucar.edu/surface/index.php?metarIds=KPZQ&hoursStr=past+24+hours&std_trans=translated&num_metars=number&submit_metars=Retrieve) and this (http://w1.weather.gov/obhistory/KPZQ.html), but the granularity missed the big wind showing only a gust of 25mph. I know that the airport typically has higher wind speed than here at the house being more out in the open. I had 49mph in yesterday's storm and NWS is claiming 60+mph.

Is there a better archive for METAR stations?

Maybe this?

Thanks Jachym.

I see this as the highest:

Quote
SA    02/08/2015 15:15->

METAR KPZQ 021515Z AUTO 32008G22KT 280V350 4SM +RA BKN024
           BKN037 OVC110 18/16 A2973 RMK AO2 T01760156=

Which would be the 25mph reading. Hmm.. maybe it was higher over here, but it is only 0.7 mile (1.1km) from me.
