« on: April 08, 2017, 06:24:41 AM »
Hi all

Just thought I'd share a few photos of my Davis Instruments Gear.

I have a Vantage Pro2 Plus with 24hr FARS.
Soil/Leaf Station and the  Remote Anemometer Station.

Feel free to comment or ask questions.

Sited in Hamilton, New Zealand.

What is that vertical white cylinder on the opposite side of the anemometer/vane?

Wow, very nicely done. The only problem I see you possibly having is some false rain tips if strong wind causes the ISS to shimmy. You may want a manual gauge for comparison sake. Otherwise,  =D>.

Turn that rain catcher upside-down and it looks like a NASA rocket motor ! ! !

I bought one of the new rain cones.  It does look like a rocket motor inverted.  I like the design and understand why they did this...

Hi Greg, It where I have housed the Boltek Lightning Antenna. Bit extreme but can't say I get interference.

Cheers for the advice CW2274

I will definitely look at making that more sturdy. I am thinking about a manual rain gauge to verify the rain fall.

Thanks to everyone else. Photos of other people's stations really helped me put my setup together, so thought I'd pass the help on.

Anyone got photos of there ones. I'm keen to know how people have mounted there leaf/soil station.

Here's what most of us use. You may find it cheaper elsewhere. http://www.ambientweather.com/strgloteprra.html

Does anyone know if those curves in aerocone really make any difference? It looks like a copy of a design that has been around for a long time.  And Davis has provided me no data. All I see is this page: http://www.davisnet.com/product/aerocone-rain-collector-with-vantage-pro2-mounting-base/

Not very technical - just some silly 3rd grade babbling.

Just FYI, if that design would be so prefect why do then the institutes use designs like attached image?
