Weather Station Gift
« on: November 21, 2011, 09:37:46 PM »
I'm looking for a weather station for my father to go at his house in Vermont.  Check my specs below for some feature requests

-$400ish budget (willing to push a little bit for something extraordinary)
-decent build taht wont fall apart in a year or two
-Post to wundergound without computer (wifi available at location)
-Temp
-Humidity
-Barometer
-wind speed/direction
-rainfall would be nice, but not necessary
-mounting recommendations (house is on a lake with an elevated deck that would work well for mounting)

Thank you in advance and  please let me know if you have any questions

Ambient Weather also sells an IP interface to do away with need for a pc and get you online to upload. I see it's compatible with their WS-2080 station. http://www.ambientweather.com/weambnslu2.html

It will post to a personal website but I doubt it would post to wunderground :-(

Not exactly sure to be honest though

Wow!  I thought $289 was high.  But the WLIP for Davis is $265 or so.  This is getting to be an expensive hobby!

Getting to be? :-P  Yeah that price is for the WeatherHub2. I remember seeing a lower priced unit, WeatherHub, but it looks like it's been dropped.

I posted mine against his (the OP's) requirements, addressing the 'without computer' part. Yours may very well work with the WeatheHub but I'd check with Ambient before hand.

I also know of this but don't know of compatibilty  http://www.slashgear.com/marvell-sheevaplug-99-linux-pc-hidden-in-a-wall-wart-2435556/
