My goal is to use your template on my paid site with the hosted mySQL database. Do you have a thread outside this WU topic where I can get help when needed?
. . . shortened . . .
All info about this HWS-template (WD34 version) ==>

SQL and the current HWS-templateThere is only 1 SQL table into which the daily data uploads are inserted. That table is not read during the day.
At the end of the day an SQL statement is executed to calculate the min-max vales for the day after which those min-max values are added in a new row to the month and year .CSV files. The SQL table is then purged.
The use of SQL is minimal and multiple users complained about "all the work" to define a Database and add the table a.s.o. Therefor the July release will not use the DB/SQL solution and will use PHP to calculate the min-max values from the daily .CSV file.
Your question? I am not sure what you want.
I'd really like to update the online mySQL database in near real-time and connect it to this template. What's the level of difficulty?
- Do you already have an up-to-date database on a webserver.
Then you could create a small PHP script to generate the realtime file for a HWS-template. Most used is the realtime.txt format, originally from Cumulus but widely used by other programs and scripts. With that file you could drive at least two different versions of the HWS-family os templates. - If you do not have a DB already, there is not much I can help you with.
The HWS template depends on external data uploaded by a "weather-program" or fetched using an API.
MeteoTemplateIf you want to create your own database you could use
MeteoTemplate, which depends on its extensive database. But I think that the data is stored in 5 minute intervals.
