How to calibrate rain sensor without corrupting data?

How do you all avoid contaminating your weather data (CWOP, WU, etc.) while calibrating the rain gauge? Just take the whole station offline while calibrating?

Disconnect the gauge at the ISS and use an external counter. You can hack one up out of a cheapo pedometer. Or, just sit there and count the tips. :)

Yup. All I do is turn off the internet connection in WL for any ISS work... just be sure to clear the console before turning it back on. ;)
