Hi!

For the WS90 is a new firmware available: v1.2.8

Changelog WS80 Firmware V1.2.8 Upgrade 2024-04-15

1.Optimize wind speed measurement. To ensure accuracy with the upgrade, a recalibration tozero is required for it to take effect.

You may find these files also on the Ecowitt product page for the WS80.

Oliver

 To ensure accuracy with the upgrade, a recalibration to zero is required for it to take effect.

Does the upgrade automatically do the recalibration to zero? If not, how to perform this task.

Update:Read the manual for the ws80 and didn't see this addressed. The manual also states the calibration button is for factory use only. Seen the other thread on updating the ws90. Guessing this would be the same for the ws80.

I would be concerned about the 'rain shadow' being cast by the buildings (and possibly the trees).
How often do you need to actually do something with the rain gauge that would make the top of your roof (where the current station is) not suitable?

updated and recalibrated in the middle of elevated wind. Not sure what you can take out of this, maybe its almost the same.

I notice that worldextremes.php was having issues loading data from https://www.ncep.noaa.gov/ (actually from https://ftp.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/cadb_v2/daily/ ) with long timeouts.

Hopefully, the NWS will fix that.  Meanwhile, change the script to a longer cache life to have that page (or your site, if you'd used it in the menubar.php) work again.

Change worldextremes.php

$cache_life = 3600*6;

$cache_life = 3600*24;
  Hopefully theyll get it fixed tomorrow...

hi can some one explain what re-calibration to zero means? Basically pre the calibration button when there is 0 wind? thanks

EDIT: Page 20 of manual.

Considering the alternatives it is.

Stepping back and panning around to the right what does it look like?

Had a Vue with the humidity problem, the SHT11 sensor was showing way to low humidity readings during night and in good conditions it would be back to normal, temperature was ok
So I desoldered the tiny PCB with the SHT11 on it and replaced it with a SY-SHT11 (only about 15 $ on Ali) which is plug and play with the Davis board, same board en pinout
Soldered it in and yes temperature and humidity are good
So it seems a replacement for the rare and expensive SHT11 is available
