Killwilly, no offense taken.  I knew you were intrigued by the difference in house styles, and culltures.   :-)

Anthony, those pics were requested by Wayne, but I would love to see them too.  :-)

Sam, No problem getting you a few pics. Just give me a couple of days. If I'm not mistaken. The guy who built it also sent me the instructions, I think. Just hope I can find them on the computer.

Thanks Anthony,
That was probably me as well barging in and asking for the photo's !
I am curious as to it's design. It sounds a little different from all the others I have considered.
The instructions would be even better

Thanks!

I should do the same
Just don't ever do what I did a few years back and accidentally stick a pocket screwdriver in you eye.
That was quite an experience to say the least! I haven't had surgery yet but my doctor says it's probably
inevitable that somewhere down the line I will.

My wife says I hit 40 and fell apart at the seams

Wow, my numbers are close again, without "calibration" adjustments needed.... (at least at the time of this posting)

<<<<WMR-968 Channel (Null)          <<<<<<These two are the ones mounted on the fence post/shield
  <<<<

My temp readings for what it's worth...
<<<<WMR-968 Channel (Null)          <<<<<<These two are the ones mounted on the fence post/shield
  <<<<

NEW EDIT: 5:30PM
Now my numbers are fluctuating largely, the OS sensor was on average 11 below the Radio Shack Sensor (ch1) before the "Spider eviction"  now it jumps to 20+ over it for at least the half hour.  I guess the "pie plates" are still damp.  I will give it a few hours to settle down.

NEWEST EDIT 7:50PM
Things have settled down somewhat
The numbers are on a trend up because of night falling but you can see how the OS (red line) fluctuates more than the Radio Shack (yellow line).

Okay, my numbers seem to be normal again.  Now I can get back to interacting with the real world again.

Yeah, I wish I could afford one if the Davis stations or something.  Now my temp seems to be on the average about 2 degress higher than anybody in a 50 mile radius.

I tried to get my station in a "nuetral" temp location, but you can only do what you can do.

I also fished a 3.5 inch fan out of my junk pile, and it looks like i could do fan aspiration if I dremel two holes thru my bottom pie plates.

Not sure if I want to do it yet.

Below is a pic and text that I got from Steve Bogan, a member on here.   So I am thinking of adding something like this, but not sure if I want to hack the pie plates and I need to find a power source access.

Does anyone know if should pull air from the sensor or push air onto the sensor?

hi sam i  seen your post....i did a fan on mine i'll send you a pic of it.... i'm running it off a 12 volt land scape light timmer i used a 120 mm computer fan with a small mod. i cut 2 corners off it ...i took 1 of the bottom plates off and  took a dremel cut a hole in it.... the other one i left off and saved it for later use if needed  i also  removed 1 of the threaded rods

Sam,

This is how I see it, however you do what you wish.

The fan, should be somewhat smaller than the one shown in the photo.  Constant movement of the air is all that is required, not a strong wind storm. (the fan may have a rheostat in line?)
The fan should be placed above the sensors and draw or pull the air past the sensors and expel it out the top of the shielding.
To push the air past the sensors would only invite large amounts of bug matter-splatter to be deposited on to the sensors and eventually over time give false readings, as well as create an unsightly mess.

Thanks, for the insights bill. I do have a smaller, perhaps slightly less powerfull fan than the one shown here. I will have to see if I can figure it out a design/hack that will allow me to bring the fan to the top of the pie plate stack.

You want to pull the air across the sensor. If you push it. Any hot air trapped in the top of the enclosure may get recirculated around the sensor giving you a false temp reading.

Anthony

I know exactly what you mean Sam! I have almost had a replacement a time or two and then something would come along and cause me to
use the funds for something else... Still trying here!

Jim,
Is this your design or a prefab shield?
I was curious as to what type of plate was used..plastic or clay.
