Title: Thunderboard from Silicon Labs new sensor and transmitter board
Post by: DaleReid on January 03, 2018, 08:13:19 PM
I got an email from DigiKey about a new evaluation kit for less than $38 for those with tinkering expertise.  It is called a Sense 2 Thunderboard, and the link to tell more is here:

https://www.digikey.com/en/product-highlight/s/silicon-laboratories/thunderboard-sense-2-next-generation-iot-development-kit?utm_medium=email&utm_source=pie&utm_campaign=1801_PIE1801A&utm_content=P11_learnmore_US_336-Silicon_Labs&utm_cid=10226399&WT.v_sub=10226399&WT.mc_id=em_PIE1801A&WT.z_email=1801_PIE1801A0I1US_P11-learnmore--336-Silicon_Labs&mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiWTJGalpqWTVZemc0WkdGbCIsInQiOiJHa0x3YVVZOCt3XC8zTnk4djNhNytuc0VsYXhHajdBYUNiNGpwWU9tM2FLcm1EeDZjTU5HWnVKUnYxUnVsR20yaXZBSzdGczRLMFdTQVhzeVdxT2FjbDRydmcrZ2JZK1ByaDQ4cHM1QTRjUDZRY0VrZWtcLzhMVncxd0JnS1JiMVpFIn0%3D

Why such a long link I have no idea.

Or go to DigiKey and look up the SLTB004A evaluation board kit.

It has sensors for:

Relative humidity and temperature sensor Si7021
UV and ambient light sensor Si1133
    Magnetic Hall effect sensor Si7210
    Pressure sensor BMP280
Indoor air quality and gas sensor CCS811
    6-axis inertial sensor ICM-20648
    TDK InvenSense ICS-43434 microphone

as possibilities.

Why such a long link I have no idea.

The only important part is that up to the first ?. https://www.digikey.com/en/product-highlight/s/silicon-laboratories/thunderboard-sense-2-next-generation-iot-development-kit

The rest is tracking info for where you saw the link etc.

Try it. That truncated link I posted works.

Thanks, I didn't know I could cut the rest off.

Have you built on of the boards yet?

Come on, get on the stick.

Certainly looks interesting for only $36.25...

Wow, you need to talk with my wife.  You do more things I suggest than she does!  (You knew I was kidding, right, but I'm glad you snabbed one to play with.)

Can you give an update on whether more of us ought to grab one to play with or not?  Looks promising, as you said.
Thanks. Dale

I'd be curious to know if it can be used with the Arduino SDK, or if it requires a completely different developer tool chain to make any use of it?????
