Title: What Website Building Software Are You Using?
Post by: W3DRM on November 23, 2011, 04:53:19 PM
I am looking for a new website building software package. Everything I have done in the past has been done on an old package I bought many years ago and long before I got into running a Wx website. That software is HomeSite v4.5a which is no longer supported and is a bit long in the tooth...

I know Dreamweaver is used by many on this forum but am wondering what else folks are using for website development, and also why they picked a particular product over another.

I use Coffee Cup software.  Have been for quite awhile.  Clean interface and plays well with the tags.  I also look at pages with Notepad++ for hard coding.

I'm still using KompoZer but it seems pretty dead as for delvelopement.

I would love to have Dreamweaver but jeez!!   $400 Full, $200 Upgrade, or $20 per month for a subscription??  I just cannot stomach that unless I were to start up a side business of building webpages for people and companies.

I've been a Dreamweaver user since V4 (long years ago), and am now using Dreamweaver CS5.5 (somewhat pricey).

With it, I've been able to keep up with the 50 or so websites I've had a hand in creating/maintaining.

Much of the functionality (like code highlighting) can be done for free with Notepad++ (which I also use), and over the years, Dreamweaver has gotten somewhat bloated and now runs slower on my ancient Pentium 4/ 1GB, WinXP-SP3 Dell system.

I used the trial for Dreamweaver CS5.5, but I had trouble finding everything...I think DW 8 is just easy on the eyes :-)

MS Expressions here too.  No complaints.  I did get it through a neighbor that works for Microsoft though.....  So the price was right!   \:D/

Did MS Expressions replace Frontpage?

If so, I remember a lot of folks didn't like it because it produced very bloated webpages. Is MS Expressions any better in this respect.
