USb to Serial
« on: April 11, 2016, 04:51:39 PM »
Hi

I have upgraded to a HP computer running Windows 7 32 bit. The HP does not have a serial port so I purchased a USB to Serial cable which uses the FTDI driver.

Windows installs the driver fine and assigns com 3, but when I run weatherlink it will not detect the port. I have changed the port to 8 through to 12 but is still not detected by weatherlink.

I have a Davis Vantage Pro 6162c cabled station.

I upgraded the computer to Windows 10 but had the same result.

Has anyone had similar problems and managed to solve it?

Thanks

Have you considered that there might be a problem with the adapter?  What's the brand name, and where did you purchase it?

The brand is Sabrent and I purchased it from a reputable online supplier.

Thanks

I would say call Davis directly, but see you're international. Try emails and also search the forum about windows 10 connection issues.

Sabrent stuff has always worked for me.  I'd bet the Win10 driver is behind this.

Hi

It did not work for Windows 7 either, the driver loads fine, there are no errors but weatherlink cannot find the com port.  #-o

I will email Davis as suggested.

Thanks

Have you tried it with the loopback connector (instead of the logger)?
