Davis Temperature and Humidity senor failure?
« on: September 11, 2017, 08:48:35 AM »
Hi

I have a remote weather station running out on a lake in Ireland. The station uploads to WU at this address:
https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=IPORTROE2#history

The station uses a Raspberry Pi zero and Davis anemometer and temperature/humidity sensors. It has been running fine for a about six months.

The temperature/humidity recently started intermittently sending temperature values of 999.9 deg C and other odd temperatures. I believe the sensor is one of the earlier Davis ones based around the Sensirion SHT21 chip.

Any ideas as to the mode of failure? Could a loose connection cause this failure or is the chip dying? It will be a week or so before we can get back out to the station so it would be useful to know if we have to source a new sensor etc

Thanks

Donall

Hi there,

Sounds like either you have a faulty sensor board or a loose connection to the raspberry pi is causing poor readings. Or water has got on to the board and caused this fault.

In any case the temp/rh board is fairly cheap and easy to replace.

Cheers,
