That looks like my data on WU as well. I think there are probably several of us here with similar data:) It was weird.

We always had a "January Thaw" in Maine when I was growing up, but I sure don't recall that big a swing in temperatures!
Break out the sun screen !

Yeah, this year's January Thaw was quite an event. Felt like early summer around here for a few days. Could have sworn mud season arrived early.

It didn't get that warm here but it was over 40 degree's in the great U.P. of Michigan the first week of January.  Quite unusual to say the least.  Now the problem is I had a lot of snow melt which froze to a solid sheet of ice in my yard and driveway.  I plow the whole yard in winter so there is a lot of tire spinning.  I felt sorry for the dog.  I threw a snowball to her and all four legs went in various directions and she landed on her nose on the ice.  Ouch!!!  Now there is a lake effect snow warning that was issued for up to a foot or perhaps more by this time tomorrow night...and with the ice underneath it.  Gonna be fun!!!

Jan. 8-9 both exceeded 60F at my place. 61.4 and 60.4 respectively. Record highs for the date ( 8th ) fell all over the region. Boston recorded a new record of 67 breaking the old record of 64. The models as I mentioned on another thread, saw the strong and unusual warming throughout the NE a good week ahead of time. Here in SNE we lost most all of our deep snow pack.

Tonight we are under a heavy snow warning as a major coastal storm moves up the eastern seaboard just off shore. Expecting ~12" in northeast Ma.

Racenet....  Bob, what where your temps up north on the 8th & 9th? Could you change the URL to reflect my new domain name in your PWS list please.

Sure, what was the old URL? Lotta links to dig through there. :)

The temps were:

8th - 54.7
9th - 55.4

Thats a 58 degree increase in 5 days in Jan.

Weird is the word. My station saw a 63o jump from Jan. 3 to 7, plus some serious boomers. Always fun to get some boomers in January, although I wasn't too happy about the tornado warnings in nearby counties. With the heavy rains and melting snow, my sump pump was pretty busy. Glad we didn't lose power.
