Author Topic: Magnitude 3.3 struck today, my Seismo detects without the USGS noticed  (Read 2718 times)

not bad for the first time quake detection of my GBSR-AS1, (USGS and IRIS sensors doesnt responding fast of their detection LOL) at 18:51 UTC March 11, 2017 just a magnitude 3.3 hitting the soil of BOHOL island at 9km depth. (my Seismogram alarms but low siren due to a weaker quake detection occurred) So weak which othe seismometers cannot easily detect it by 1500km or more mile distances, since the period of my seismo is 3 times +/- 0.003 nanometer more sensitive, than a normal of +/- 0.01 nanometres seismograms. This is good to determine a single/smallest earth movements . Sir Larry Cochrane advised me to use raspberry Pi instead of my PC for stable and standing alone of my seismo. Great Idea.  :-P

Raspberry Pi is for any person who would like to see the vibrations that are all around us but are generally not felt. Raspberry Pi is able to register not only the different impacts caused by different coin denominations being dropped on a table, but also the vibrations when those coins are picked up in the first place. Sir Larry Cochrane advise for using the Raspberry Pi was surely a good idea.

yes he told me too using rasp pi for stand alone instead of using a pc, we talk about it, Rasp Pi is only for running WINSDR with the help of Exagear of course, but to detect tyhe vibrations, you still need a good amplifier and a good sensor which I made my self that accomodates 50-70 second butterworth bands almost above to most expensive amplifiers in the market in a small size resulting a very clean seismogram view in realtime http://pimohweather.webutu.com/wxquake.php 8-) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkVT8gDdSPc

heres one of my reference which I made GBSR-AS1 http://www.infiltec.com/seismo/ and the specs which I based from the British Geological https://www.bgs.ac.uk/downloads/start.cfm?id=659 then I combine those specs above into one which can do periods in vertical or horizantal movements and also do detect locally and teleseismic events.

If you don't mind me asking how much did it cost to build such a device? I have always wanted to add one to my Raspberry Pi weather station and it looks like there is enough information here to do just that! The problem is I will most likely go with the Blue lightning detection system kit first but it is good to have projects lined up. :-D
