Title: LaCrosse Weather Station Connecting to NWS
Post by: Kahuna Shack on February 20, 2018, 03:16:20 PM
I have a S84060 weather station. I have a solid WiFi connection. How does the station access the NWS for forecasts based upon the zip code entered into the LaCrosse View app? I don’t see accurate forecasts displayed on my base station, ie, icons cloud, sun, rain..but I do get accurate forecasts in WU which has my exact GPS co-ordinates

This is the response I got from LaCrosse help desk. It is a NWS data simulator. I’m still trying to figure it out.

We use this API for our data: https://graphical.weather.gov/xml/SOAP_server/ndfdXML.htm
Our selection is NDFD Data For A Zip Code.

Also asked LaCrosse  if the base station’s firmware can be updated and how. Here is their response:

“ There are times that there are firmware updates sent to the display. This is done via the servers to the display. “

I’m assuming they mean that it can be updated if the base station is connected to a wireless router from the internet via a LaCrosse server.
