Secondary console/display for PWS
« on: January 20, 2019, 12:44:59 PM »
Is it possible to, or has anyone added another console or used another receiver to have an additional means of viewing, at least some of the data from your PWS?  The PWS transmits in the 900mhz range and was just curious if another device could be used to capture, locally, the data output?  Instead of using the little dongle/puck type hygrometers, could it receive the PWS info?

I am not sure what you are asking here.  If you are using a WS-2000, there are no gauges in it, but you can use a secondary console (WS-2000C) to capture and display data as well.  If you are using a WS-2902, you can get a second one and can capture data and has it's own sensors in it.

I hope that helps.

Yes, I have a WS-2902A, but was just curious if I can add another console from another device, same brand, and capture the existing PWS data?  For instance, if I got WS-3000 variant, could the PWS be paired to it?  I assume the remote sensors operate in the same band as the PWS.

The WS-3000 console will not work for your PWS data. It only reads temperature/humidity sensors. To read the data from your outdoor Osprey array sensor you can use any number of the following devices.
- WS-2902A display console
- WS-2000 display tablet console
- ObserverIP
- build your own SDR

I for example have one of each of the above (no SDR though) all picking up the radio data signal from my one and only Osprey array sensor.

You can also then indirectly add more devices that talk to the ObserverIP like the Meteobridge. Or you can run WeeWx or Weather-Display if you work within their means of getting live data. This then starts to get more advanced and more than one way of being accomplished.

.... Also I have spoken to Lucy from Ecowitt and she assured me that their HP3500B display console would also work with my Ambient Osprey array sensor, because it also uses 915 MHz. Ecowitt is another reseller of Fine Offset clones just like Ambient Weather. So if the frequency matches and the devices were designed to work together by Fine Offset then it is compatible.

I have also read accounts of other Fine Offset clones working together like the European Froggit array sensor with Aercus ObserverIP as they are 433mhz.

So you can mix reseller brands of Fine Offset as long as the frequency is the same.

Thanks for the info, it appears that this one will work as well.

Yes I forgot about that one. It is basically a WS-2902A without WiFi.

I wish there was one with a little longer range.  I had to move my WS-2000 quite a bit close to my array than my Acu-Rite was.  I miss having a console in my kitchen (though my ipad works fine for my weather web page.)
