CAT5 Shielding Question
« on: June 01, 2014, 07:57:58 PM »
Not paying enough attention during installation, I ran unshielded CAT5 wire from the amplifier located in the "attic's attic" down through the second and first floor into the basement where the controller is located. I have read that this should have been shielded wire and every time there are close storms causing interference this needles me in the side. So the question is, should it be replaced? Is it worth the extra cost and effort?
A. Yes, what are stupid!? No wonder you have troubles finding the sweet spot settings.
B. It is a good idea in case you get some interference. Change it when you feel like it.
C. No, in the big picture, it is not really causing any issues. The shielding is just a precaution.
